This is an absolutely stunning pair of vintage 1920's art deco era slip on shade wall mounted scones. One feature I love about this set are the flower decorations. The satin glass shades each have a raised central panel featuring an embossed rose, daisy and anomeny.
They are flanked by stylized scrolling acanthus leaves. The flowers in the shades are repeated in the decoration of the cast iron fixtures, which tells you that the shades were designed specifically to go with these fixtures.
Another feature of this set is that not only have they avoided being painted, a fate which affects 60+ percent of all the wall sconces I run across. But one thing I almost never see is the original copper finish completely intact. The finish looks like they were made yesterday not a hundred years ago. The wiring is complete and ready to go. Another miraculous survivor is the original wall mount nuts that match the fixtures. Both the original rotary switches are in excellent condition, I believe this is because they were operated by another wall switch and so were never used during thier long service. As you can see in the photos when the lights are lit they give off a beautiful golden glow that really show off the flowers in the shades. These lights will add to almost any decor but will really add to deco, Hollywood regency and early modern styled rooms. About the only issue they have is a pair of small flea bites on one shade which are basically invisible when in place. This is by far the best pair of slipper shade fixtures that I have ever had.
If my interior design wasnt late Victorian I would never sell these because I know that I will never find better. Don't miss out on these beauties.
